Roosters are a prominent theme in Italian ceramics. They are symbolic for good luck. This large vintage Italian decorative deep plate (or shallow bowl ) with its whimsical “good luck” rooster can be hung on a wall or set on a table or counter. The design is simple, bold stripes of blue and green around the perimeter then quick brush strokes here and there, make up the rooster. There is some chipping with age which adds to the aesthetic and overall character of the piece.
